The Lancaster Stage

Many equate live performances with NYC’s Broadway or huge venues like the Wells Fargo Center in Philly.  But we know better.  Lancaster is home to some of the best talent and wonderful venues and there is always a premium show at an affordable price to see.

American Music Theatre has some of the best original shows such as INSPIRE that just finished its Summer run while bringing in some great names such as Wayne Newton and Ronnie Milsap this Fall.  And what has become a family tradition for many, the critically acclaimed Christmas Show is one of Lancaster’s most beloved holiday shows and opens November 3rd.

Sight & Sound is the nation’s largest professional Christian theatrical company and creates spectacular entertainment based on the stories of the Bible.  Even if you aren’t familiar with these stories, the epic productions deliver exciting and memorable experiences for everyone.  With hundreds of professional actors attired in elaborate costumes, meticulously detailed sets towering up to 40 feet high, trained animals, unmatched special effects and memorable music truly make these adventures come to life.  Joseph, which runs through October 17th, has been entertaining thousands since Spring and the Miracle of Christmas opens on November 7th for the holiday season.

Add a meal to the equation and you have the best of both worlds at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre.  You belly will be happy and you will leave humming your favorite tunes from the likes of Funny Girl, Les Miserables, Oklahoma and West Side Story.  The hysterical Church Basement Ladies are cracking us up in A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement through November 7th and then the classic and funny A Christmas Story will entertain for the holidays.

Now, add some Amish flavor and enjoy Josiah for President at the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant and Stage or the only “experiential” theater on the East Coast, The Amish Experience Theater at Plain & Fancy Farm.  The story of Jacob’s Choice features an intimate view of the Amish today through the eyes of the Fisher family.

Lancaster abounds with entertainment choices!  To name a few more….The Arts at Millersville Ware Center, the Lancaster Comedy Show at Hershey Farm Restaurant, Gretna Theatre, The Junction Center, Rainbow’s Comedy Playhouse, PRiMA Theatre, the Trust Performing Art Center and of course, the historic 1852 Fulton Theatre.  Break a leg!
