Imagine visiting an Amish barn-raising, enjoying the entertainment of a circus, and watching heroic firefighters put out a house fire all within a matter of minutes. How is such a feat possible? By taking a journey through The Choo Choo Barn.
What started over 60 years ago as a Christmas gift of a Lionel train set quickly morphed into a holiday display for neighbors. The Choo Choo Barn, also known as Traintown U.S.A., has now grown to a 1700 square foot extravaganza with 22 working trains and over 150 hand-crafted animated figures.
You don’t have to be a model-train enthusiast to enjoy following the trains through cities and farms, over trestles and through tunnels, passing an amusement park and a ski chalet while planes and hot air balloons fly overhead. Peace descends when the house lights go down. The street lamps glow, the Christmas lights twinkle, and the trains keep chugging through the silence of the night.
You wish for a moment you could shrink yourself and step into this magical world to explore all it has to offer. Luckily, to watch from outside the glass is the next best thing and it will be hard to tear yourself away.
A trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country is not complete without entering the enchanting land of The Choo Choo Barn.
