Our Mission

Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to become productive, caring, responsible adults.

What We Do

BGC Lancaster has played an integral role in the Lancaster community for 75 years, providing daily programs and services to nearly 3,000 young people each year. The Club is open daily throughout the summer and after school with programs that emphasize education and career enhancement, character and leadership development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation. Our locations include two neighborhood based Clubhouses in Lancaster City and one in Columbia. Additionally, the Club serves youth through a “Community School” partnership with the School District of Lancaster.

A Safe Place for Kids
Every day boys and girls in Lancaster and Columbia flash their membership cards to come into a safe haven where they are accepted for who they are, encouraged to do their best, and leave knowing they are valued and understood. Four key characteristics define the essence of a Boys & Girls Club. All are critical in exerting positive impact on the life of a child.

Dedicated Youth Facility
The Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster is a place - an actual neighborhood-based building - designed solely for youth programs and activities.

Open Every Weekday
The Club is open every weekday, after school and during the summer, when kids have free time and need positive, productive outlets. The Clubhouses are open to members Monday through Friday after school until 8:00 p.m. and in the summer from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Professional Staff
Every Club has full-time, trained youth development professionals, providing positive role models and mentors. Volunteers also provide key supplementary support.

Available/Affordable to All Youth
Clubs reach out to kids who cannot afford, or may lack access to, other community programs. And of course membership is only $1 per year!
